A Welcome Visit from Grandpa & Grandma

Image
I know! 2 blog posts in 1 day!!! I didn't want to neglect the fact that we had a very nice visit with my grandparents today. They drove up from Burt, IA and took Darek, my mom and I out for a very delicious and filling lunch at Axel's. YUM! I always enjoy eating there. :-) Thank you Grandpa & Grandma for a wonderful lunch!! After lunch we headed back to our house (the entire 1.5 minute drive) to relax and chat. Grandma always makes a quilt for the babies, so even though he hasn't arrived yet we received some very nice gifts. 100 Bible Verses to Bless Your Baby Boy Handmade Quilt from Grandma Quilts are such a treasure and we know that Baby Schwarz will cherish this one!  Hunny Snuggling up with Grandpa Hunny trying to get some lap time with Grandma We enjoyed their visit and look forward to having a new great-grandchild for them to visit next time! Later that afternoon we enjoyed watching the Twins win against the Detroit Tigers (on TV this time)...

Prodromal Labor - and we continue to wait...

Image
I have been asked SO many times recently "So... any news on the baby?" or "Do you have an update for us?" or "What's the status?" The current answer is: No, we have not had our baby yet. We promise to let all of our caring friends and family know just as soon as we do, though. Trust me, I would LOVE to be able to share that good news ASAP, but until the timing is right we will wait. I figured maybe I can cure some of your curiosity with what has been taking place. As I wrote about recently, I have been experiencing symptoms of 'false labor.' Apparently, the true term for what has been taking place is Prodromal Labor . <- Click there if you would like to read about it. It's very frustrating, but on the bright side of things my body should be very well prepared for true labor (when that time comes). At my appointment last week, my midwife was very encouraging, and told me that everything is moving along nicely, the baby is in a great...

And We Wait

Here we are! July 18th - Baby Schwarz's due date . I am certain he is well prepared for this day, and once again we wait, and hope that today will be the day. I'm would love to call Darek today and say "IT's TIME!"  I picked my mom up from the airport Saturday night, as she is here to help out for a couple of weeks. I'm so glad she's here, but really wishing the baby would also arrive very soon so she can make the most of her time spent with us. We did have a very nice mother-daughter bonding day yesterday. Of course that included pedicures , lunch and a little (grocery) shopping. She baked one of her homemade pizza's for supper and we had a very relaxing day and evening. (Despite the 110 heat index). On a semi-random note - our A/C stopped working Friday night, and it was getting really warm in the house. So, thankfully our amazing neighbor, Dave, (who works with heating and A/C) was willing and happy to come over and fix it up for us. He is reall...

False Labor

Well, here we are... Due Date 7/18/11 Waiting (semi-patiently) for our little baby boy to enter this world, and make us a family of 3! Darek and I are both very ready for this addition to our family, and it has been a tough couple of days so far. Sunday night I started experiencing some strong contractions, and we thought maybe it would turn into something significant. The only problem was that any time I sat down and rested, they would stop. I figured that if this was the night for his arrival, then the contractions would continue and increase regardless of my active or resting state. How right I was. I had a very difficult time sleeping Sunday not only due to discomfort, but also due to the severe storms. I was not scared of the weather, but rather disturbed by all of the loud rain and wind... I didn't get much sleep, and decided that it would be best for me to sleep in that next morning as I would definitely have been useless at work. Darek and I both stayed home that day (Dar...
